Circulation is a topic that has attracted much scholarly attention. Diverse and ever changing patterns of circulation have long conditioned the identities of Europe and of Europeans, and are central to the ongoing challenge of adapting the European paradigm to changing global circumstances. It is a vital topic for the European Union, particularly as it works to enhance notions of citizenship and belonging among the populations of its member states. The conference explores the sociocultural, historical, political and legal aspects of the movement of people, resources, capital, and ideas within and across Europe.
